Bio
Kirsty-Lee Jones (BOccTh)
I became an Occupational Therapist in 2018 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of South Australia. Since then, I have worked within the paediatric space within both the community and clinic based environments and continue to learn from the Occupational Therapy discipline and the young people and their families of whom I work with. I was a mature aged student when I studied with two young children and continue to reflect on how significant the principles and frameworks the discipline of Occupational Therapy has had on my own parenting and my children’s growth.
I am a Marte Meo Practitioner and hold the Early Intervention years, those between the age of 2-9 years, as the most important and foundational years within which I choose to focus my work on. I have experience working with small businesses as well as large organisations within multidisciplinary teams, and know where other professionals' expertise fit within each child’s unique goals. Through my experience, I have also supervised Occupational Therapy students and provided clinical supervision to New Graduates.
Overall, I have a holistic approach to therapy and believe that if the foundational years are treated with reverence and with a developmental approach, this includes forecasting what will be required within therapy moving forward, the intensity of therapy can be reduced as the child grows older. My provision of services is community based meaning I will meet the child within their learning environment, be that school, kindergarten or child care and will work with their educators, therapy team and family in order to support them in meeting their goals. Outside of work I spend my time with my family, supporting my children with their motivations and interests and enjoying our MidCoast lifestyle.
